Culture and Media Committee discuss Investment in Traditional Omani heritage villages to attract tourism

The subcommittee emanating from the Culture and Media Committee of the State Council, responsible for the study of the "Investment in Traditional Omani heritage villages to attract tourism”, held its first meeting today, headed by Hon.Mohammed bin Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Shuaili, Committee Head in the presence of the honorable members of the committee and several General Secretariat employees.
The committee discussed the proposal of the study, which aims to identify the efforts made in order to restore the traditional Omani heritage villages and to invest in them and develop them as tourist hotels and tourist attractions. It also aims to prepare and qualify Omani workers trained in restoration and study the urban, engineering and values characteristics of the villages, in addition to proposing legislation to preserve the legacy.
During the meeting, the Committee was briefed on the topics prepared to discuss with the proposed hosting of related entities. In addition, it reviewed the data available for performing the study.
